The common thread is the imbecile, Trump.<\/p>\n<p>They both appeal to conservatives; on the first point, conservatives distrust &#8220;big pharma&#8221; and like simplistic answers to everything.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.theatlantic.com\/thumbor\/ZmO5T1XOXTzRdUoI-UghPKwZRdw=\/0x1:4000x2251\/976x549\/media\/img\/mt\/2025\/09\/2025_09_TrumpAutism\/original.jpg\" width=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Atlantic, Tom Bartlett, 22 Sept 2025<\/strong>: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/health\/2025\/09\/trump-autism-tylenol-vaccine-maha\/684310\/\">Trump Tells Pregnant Women to \u2018Fight Like Hell\u2019 Not to Take Tylenol<\/a>, subtitled &#8220;The president has given autism the MAHA treatment.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Note the last line of this first paragraph.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>At a press conference today, President Donald Trump dispensed one clear piece of medical advice to American parents in a rambling, repetitive monologue: Don\u2019t. Take. Tylenol. He told pregnant women that they could help keep their children safe from autism by not taking the drug whenever they could avoid it (\u201cfight like hell,\u201d he instructed). He advised parents not to give Tylenol to their young children. He denounced giving the hepatitis B vaccine to infants and suggested that parents space out their children\u2019s immunization schedule. (\u201cThey pump so much stuff into those beautiful little babies, it\u2019s a disgrace,\u201d he said.) He declared that children ideally should be given the measles, mumps, and rubella vaccines separately, though such individual shots are not available in the United States. \u201cThis is based on what I feel,\u201d the president said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\\<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not going to spend much time on this. But various folks on Fb are pointing out that a recommended treatment for autism, a drug called\u00a0leucovorin, or folinic acid, just happens to be sold by a California supplemental retailer called iHerb, in which Dr. Oz is an investor. Here&#8217;s a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/trump-fda-leucovorin-dr-oz-2134011\">Newsweek item<\/a> about that, that says Oz will divest his shares of that company. At the same time, there are other articles, like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/dr-oz-splits-from-trump-on-tylenol-after-autism-tirade\/\">this one at The Daily Beast<\/a>, that says &#8220;Dr. Oz Splits from Trump on Tylenol After Autism Tirade.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\\\\<\/p>\n<p>On the UN speech.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/compote.slate.com\/images\/e95d4732-daab-489b-b789-b7528af7687b.jpeg?crop=4300%2C2867%2Cx0%2Cy0&amp;width=1280\" width=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Slate, Fred Kaplan, 23 Sept 2025<\/strong>: <a href=\"https:\/\/slate.com\/news-and-politics\/2025\/09\/trump-un-speech-nobel-prize-gaza-israel-ukraine-climate-change.html\">This Might Be Trump\u2019s Most Bonkers Speech Yet<\/a>, subtitled &#8220;And that\u2019s really saying something!&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"slate-paragraph slate-graf\" data-word-count=\"73\" data-uri=\"slate.com\/_components\/slate-paragraph\/instances\/cmfwsxnr3001y3b79zkxdkpnj@published\">It was, among other things, unrelentingly, embarrassingly\u2014and, most of all, delusionally\u2014egomaniacal. The whole first section claimed, in language that seemed borrowed from textbooks of Communist Party congresses, the many ways that, in just eight months, he has transformed the U.S. from the \u201cruinous\u201d \u201ccalamity\u201d of \u201cSleepy Joe Biden\u201d to \u201cthe hottest country anywhere in the world \u2026 indeed the Golden Age of America \u2026 the greatest economy in the history of the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"slate-paragraph slate-graf\" data-word-count=\"70\" data-uri=\"slate.com\/_components\/slate-paragraph\/instances\/cmfwsxnr4001z3b7949wtcmd4@published\">He also repeated the, let us say, <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/International\/video\/breaking-trumps-claim-ended-7-unendable-wars-125858010\">extreme exaggeration<\/a>, recited in many domestic forums, that he personally ended seven wars\u2014\u201cno president or prime minister, no country, has ever done anything close to that \u2026 everyone says that I should get the Nobel Peace Prize for each one of these achievements,\u201d adding that, while he was \u201cworking to save millions of lives,\u201d the United Nations\u2014the institution that was hosting him\u2014did nothing.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>And then he went on with what must be the most irresponsible statements by any world leader in the 21st century.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Finally came the section of the speech that must have made even his friends (or pretend friends) roll their eyes\u2014his attack on migration and the green-energy \u201choax\u201d as the main reasons why the countries of Europe \u201care going to hell.\u201d In America, the \u201cmillions\u201d of mentally ill criminals who were let loose through open borders caused \u201cunmitigated crime sprees.\u201d (He has repeated this falsehood so many times, many believe it must be true. <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.house.gov\/meetings\/JU\/JU01\/20250122\/117827\/HHRG-119-JU01-20250122-SD004.pdf\">In fact, the crime rate among immigrants is lower than it is among native-born Americans<\/a>.) The Europeans allow this because they\u2019re \u201cpolitically correct\u201d and because the Islamic mayor of London\u2014\u201ca terrible, terrible mayor\u201d\u2014wants to establish Sharia law.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, \u201cglobal warming\u201d is \u201cthe greatest con job ever perpetrated on the world,\u201d invented by radicals who want to bring down industrialized countries while letting rules-breakers like China thrive. Windmills \u201crust and rot,\u201d they depend on subsidies, and don\u2019t work when the wind isn\u2019t blowing. America is thriving, he said, because we\u2019re going back (so he claimed, with no supporting evidence) to \u201cclean beautiful coal.\u201d (His \u201cstanding order\u201d in the White House is \u201cnever to use the word \u2018coal,\u2019 only \u2018clean, beautiful coal\u2019\u2014it sounds much better, doesn\u2019t it?\u201d)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m really good at this stuff,\u201d Trump bragged. \u201cYour countries are going to hell. \u2026 I\u2019m really good at predicting things.
