Because control of CBS has been given over to a Trump supporter. Something similar is also happening at CNN, apparently. Because the Trump-supporting billionaires are buying up the big, formerly independent, media outlets.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static01.nyt.com\/images\/2025\/12\/21\/multimedia\/21biz-cbs-60-minutes-gkqw\/21biz-cbs-60-minutes-gkqw-superJumbo.jpg?quality=75&amp;auto=webp\" width=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>NY Times, 21 Dec 2025<\/strong>: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/12\/21\/business\/60-minutes-trump-bari-weiss.html\">60 Minutes\u2019 Pulled a Segment. A Correspondent Calls It \u2018Political.\u2019<\/a>, subtitled &#8220;Sharyn Alfonsi, a &#8217;60 Minutes&#8217; correspondent, criticized the network\u2019s decision to remove her reporting from Sunday\u2019s edition of the show.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In a move that drew harsh criticism from its own correspondent, CBS News abruptly removed a segment from Sunday\u2019s episode of \u201c60 Minutes\u201d that was to feature the stories of Venezuelan men deported by the Trump administration to what the program called a \u201cbrutal\u201d prison in El Salvador.<\/p>\n<p>CBS announced the change three hours before the broadcast, a highly unusual last-minute switch. The decision was made after Bari Weiss, the new editor in chief of CBS News, requested numerous changes to the segment. CBS News said in a statement that the segment would air at a later date and \u201cneeded additional reporting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But Sharyn Alfonsi, the veteran \u201c60 Minutes\u201d correspondent who reported the segment, rejected that criticism in a private note to CBS colleagues on Sunday, in which she accused CBS News of pulling the segment for \u201cpolitical\u201d reasons.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur story was screened five times and cleared by both CBS attorneys and Standards and Practices,\u201d Ms. Alfonsi wrote in the note, a copy of which was obtained by The New York Times. \u201cIt is factually correct.
