The last part was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markrkelly.com\/Blog\/2014\/05\/17\/personal-history-part-3-photos\/\">here<\/a>, but more pertinent is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markrkelly.com\/Blog\/2014\/05\/16\/personal-history-part-2\/\">part 2<\/a>, about living in Apple Valley.<\/p>\n<p><!--I've written over the past week drafts of three posts about Apple Valley and about its significance in my life, and how my location there presaged my attention to science fiction and about how that location is a metaphor for exposure to the world and the universe.--><\/p>\n<p>Here is one of my earliest memories, from when I was less than 10. In Apple Valley, in the early &#8217;60s, there was one local radio station, KAVR. Every evening, at sunset, they would close their broadcast by playing a recording of the Lord&#8217;s Prayer, sung in a magnificent baritone.
