{"id":837,"date":"2014-04-07T16:03:52","date_gmt":"2014-04-07T23:03:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.markrkelly.com\/Blog\/?p=837"},"modified":"2020-10-18T11:57:26","modified_gmt":"2020-10-18T18:57:26","slug":"the-waters-clear-and-innocent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.markrkelly.com\/Blog\/2014\/04\/07\/the-waters-clear-and-innocent\/","title":{"rendered":"The Water&#8217;s Clear and Innocent"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today&#8217;s favorite song: Codex, by Radiohead, from their 2011 album <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/King_Of_Limbs\">The King of Limbs<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a beautiful, desolate song, possibly about the temptation of suicide, probably about <a href=\"http:\/\/songmeanings.com\/songs\/view\/3530822107858860815\/\">something more subtle<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Radiohead - Codex (Lyrics On Screen)\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8pJ3PXUN2FI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Ever since I first heard it, I think of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Convict_lake\">Convict Lake<\/a>, along the east side of the Sierra, a place we stopped at once on one of the annual trips to Mammoth Mountain I took in the 1990s, when I hung out with a ski group. (I was never much of a skier, but I liked the trips.) The lake is beautiful, still, cold, utterly deserted.
